PROTECTED OWNERSHIP
Warranty coverage and buyer support
MotoComply helps buyers understand the warranty, legal guarantee and handover support attached to each listing. Coverage depends on the vehicle or vessel, condition, age, mileage or engine hours, service history, manufacturer terms, applicable consumer law and the final sales contract.
WARRANTY CLARITY
Clear warranty information before handover
Every listing should clearly show what warranty or support is attached before the buyer completes the transaction. MotoComply separates mandatory legal guarantee rights, any limited dealer warranty, remaining manufacturer coverage and marine-specific handover support so customers can understand what applies to their purchase.
COVERAGE TYPES
Understanding the different types of coverage
Warranty wording can be confusing, especially for international buyers. MotoComply uses clear categories so the buyer can see whether coverage comes from consumer law, MotoComply dealer support, a manufacturer warranty or a marine-specific handover process.
Legal guarantee / statutory rights
Consumer buyers may have mandatory legal guarantee rights under applicable national and EU consumer law. These rights cannot be removed by a dealer warranty statement. The exact duration and remedies depend on the buyer’s jurisdiction, product category, condition and applicable sales law.
Limited dealer warranty
Some MotoComply listings may include a limited dealer warranty or dealer support period. The duration, covered components, exclusions, claim process and service location must be stated in writing before handover.
Manufacturer warranty
Newer vehicles or vessels may still have manufacturer warranty coverage. Transferability, remaining duration, covered parts, service requirements and geographic validity must be checked against the manufacturer’s official terms.
Marine and yacht support
Boats and yachts often include separate systems, engines, generators, electronics and onboard equipment. Coverage may depend on survey notes, service records, manufacturer terms, engine hours, flag-state requirements and the final handover documentation.
LEGAL GUARANTEE
Legal guarantee rights are respected
MotoComply does not use dealer warranty wording to remove mandatory consumer rights. Where consumer protection rules apply, the buyer keeps the legal guarantee rights provided by the applicable law. In many EU consumer sales, goods are covered by a minimum 2-year legal guarantee. For second-hand goods, some countries may allow a shorter agreed period, but it must never be shorter than the legal minimum and must be clearly stated before purchase.
For Danish consumer purchases, Danish consumer guidance states that consumers have a 2-year legal warranty for products bought from a company, including second-hand products. MotoComply should therefore avoid presenting Danish consumer sales as only 12 months unless this has been reviewed by qualified legal counsel.
This page is general customer information. Final warranty rights depend on the applicable contract and law.
POSSIBLE SUPPORT
What warranty support may include
Coverage depends on the specific listing and written warranty terms. Where a limited dealer warranty or support period is included, it may focus on major mechanical, electrical or operational items that are not normal wear, misuse, accident damage or maintenance-related issues.
Major mechanical components
For motorcycles, trikes and quads, support may relate to major engine, transmission or drivetrain defects where the issue is covered by the written warranty terms and was not caused by misuse, lack of maintenance or normal wear.
Electrical and control systems
Certain electrical or control-system faults may be reviewed where they are part of the stated coverage. Batteries, accessories, aftermarket parts and consumable items may have separate terms or exclusions.
Marine propulsion systems
For boats and yachts, engines, propulsion, generators and technical systems may require specialist diagnosis. Coverage depends on survey notes, service records, engine hours, manufacturer conditions and written handover terms.
Documentation and handover support
MotoComply can help buyers understand inspection reports, handover notes, service history, warranty fields, manufacturer documents and claim steps where relevant to the listing.
LIMITATIONS
Typical exclusions and limitations
Warranty coverage is not the same as full insurance or lifetime protection. Unless the written warranty terms say otherwise, the following items are commonly excluded or limited.
The final exclusions must be taken from the written warranty document for each listing.
BY CATEGORY
Warranty by category
Motorcycles
Coverage may include legal guarantee rights, remaining manufacturer warranty where transferable, and limited dealer support where stated. Mileage, service history, condition and inspection notes are reviewed before handover.
Trikes
Trikes may include motorcycle-derived systems and custom components. Warranty review should consider drivetrain, chassis, conversion elements, service records and any manufacturer or specialist builder terms.
Quads
Quad warranty support depends on intended use, condition, service history and whether the vehicle has been used on-road, off-road, commercially or recreationally. Wear, impact and misuse exclusions should be clearly stated.
Boats
Boat coverage may involve hull, propulsion, onboard systems, electronics, engine hours, service records and survey notes. Legal guarantee, manufacturer terms and marine survey findings must be reviewed before final handover.
Yachts
Yacht warranty support is highly case-specific. Engines, generators, electronics, navigation equipment, accommodation systems, marina handover, flag-state requirements and professional survey notes may all affect coverage.
CONFIRMATION
How warranty terms are confirmed
Listing warranty field review
We review the warranty information attached to the listing, including dealer warranty notes, manufacturer coverage and support status.
Inspection and service record check
Inspection reports, visible condition notes, service history, mileage, engine hours and pending items are reviewed before final warranty wording is confirmed.
Legal guarantee classification
The transaction is reviewed to identify whether consumer legal guarantee rules apply and whether the sale is new, used, business-to-consumer or business-to-business.
Written coverage terms
Covered items, excluded items, duration, claim process, repair location and customer responsibilities must be stated in writing before handover.
Handover document package
The buyer receives the relevant invoice, contract, inspection report, warranty notes and support contact details where applicable.
Post-handover support
If a concern appears after delivery, the buyer contacts MotoComply with the listing reference, documents, photos, service evidence and a clear description of the issue.
SUPPORT REQUEST
How to request warranty support
If you believe an issue may be covered, contact MotoComply as soon as possible. Early reporting helps protect the inspection record, service history and claim review process.
- Listing reference or vehicle / vessel ID
- Buyer name and invoice reference
- Current mileage or engine hours
- Description of the issue
- Photos or video where useful
- Service records after handover
- Location of the vehicle or vessel
- Warning messages, diagnostic reports or survey notes
MotoComply will review the information against the written warranty terms, legal guarantee status, inspection report, handover documents and applicable law before confirming the next step.
MARINE SUPPORT
Special warranty considerations for boats and yachts
Marine purchases often involve more complex warranty questions than road vehicles. A vessel may include hull structure, engines, drives, generators, electronics, navigation equipment, plumbing, accommodation systems and safety equipment.
- Hull and deck condition
- Engine hours and service history
- Propulsion and drive systems
- Generator and onboard power
- Navigation and communication electronics
- Fuel, water and sanitation systems
- Safety equipment
- Marina, port and storage conditions
- Survey notes and advisory findings
- Flag-state, registration and insurance requirements
For boats and yachts, MotoComply warranty information does not replace a professional marine survey, insurance review, flag-state registration review, tax review or legal review.
STATUS LABELS
Clear warranty status labels
Each listing should use clear status labels so customers understand what is confirmed, what is included and what still requires review.
TRANSPARENT OWNERSHIP
Built for transparent premium ownership
MotoComply’s warranty workflow is designed to make international purchasing clearer. Before handover, buyers should be able to see the listing warranty field, inspection report notes, service information, legal guarantee notice and written coverage terms where applicable.

FAQ
Warranty questions
Does every MotoComply listing include a warranty?
Every listing should show the warranty or support information available for that specific vehicle or vessel. Mandatory legal guarantee rights may apply depending on the buyer, jurisdiction and transaction type. Any additional limited dealer warranty must be confirmed in writing.
Is the legal guarantee the same as a dealer warranty?
No. The legal guarantee is a mandatory consumer right where applicable. A dealer warranty or commercial warranty is additional coverage offered under written terms. A dealer warranty cannot remove mandatory consumer rights.
Is the warranty always 12 months?
No. Warranty duration depends on applicable law, country, buyer type, product condition and written contract terms. In many EU consumer sales, legal guarantee rights last 2 years. Some countries may allow shorter agreed periods for second-hand goods, but not below the legal minimum.
What is covered on motorcycles, trikes and quads?
Coverage depends on the listing and written terms. It may include major mechanical or electrical items, but normal wear, consumables, misuse, accident damage, missed maintenance and modifications are usually excluded unless expressly covered.
How does warranty work for boats and yachts?
Boat and yacht support is more case-specific. Hull condition, engines, generators, electronics, onboard systems, engine hours, survey notes, service history and manufacturer terms may all affect coverage. A professional marine survey may be required.
What should I do if I have a problem after delivery?
Contact MotoComply as soon as possible with the listing reference, invoice, current mileage or engine hours, photos or video, service records and a clear description of the issue.
Does warranty cover delivery damage?
Delivery damage is usually handled through the delivery handover record, carrier process or transport insurance, not the normal vehicle warranty. Any damage should be reported immediately at arrival with photos and written handover notes.
Can I buy extra coverage?
If extended support, third-party warranty or specialist marine coverage is available for a listing, MotoComply can explain the available options before purchase. Availability depends on vehicle type, age, condition, country and provider approval.
